A network for postgraduated education and
innovation
ISAA is a network of 4 postgraduate
engineering and veterinary "Grandes Ecoles" (ENGREF,
ENSIA, INA P-G, ENVA) on food processing and human
nutrition in Paris.
- ENVA Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire d’Alfort (founded
in 1765) (www.vet-alfort.fr.fr)
- INA P-G Institut National Agronomique de
Paris-Grignon (heir of the Institution Royale
Agronomique founded in 1826) (www.inapg.inra.fr)
- ENSIA Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Industries
Agricoles et Alimentaires (founded in1898) (www.ensia.inra.fr)
- ENGREF Ecole Nationale du Génie Rural, des Eaux et
des Forêts (heir of Ecole Forestière of Nancy fonded in
1824 and Ecole du Génie
Rural founded in 1919) (www.engref.fr)
It was the first regional pole created in
1981 under the sponsorship of the Ministry of
Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Rural Affairs.
It
adopted in 2002 the European Credit
Transfert System

MISSION
ISAA
is a postgraduate institute at master level, training high level
engineers and veterinarians for the food industry firms together.
MAIN
FEATURES
- Our postgraduate education results from a common action between 4
"Grandes Ecoles" which have 2500 students overall and
a closed relationship with the
National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA)

between education and research.
- important
pedagogical means are set in common and located in and around
Paris : Paris, Grignon, Maisons-Alfort, Massy

- varied
backgrounds : Bachelor of Science (BSc) in agronomy, BSc in food
science and food engineering, BSc in rural engineering and
management of natural resources, veterinary degree; there are
other BSc which can be of interest to food industries in
biotechnologies, physics, chemistry, electronics, mechanics,...
- varied
curriculums : a choice of eight majors is offered, including 70
courses taught by professors with the contribution of 300
external professionals
- the
students prepare for a large range of professional activities

The ISAA's members take part

in all European programs and exchange networks (Leonardo, Erasmus,
Socrates)
=> in special agreements with foreign universities and companies all
over the world and particularly in

ENSIA co-ordinates the European education network NET FOOD NET (80
partners)
EDUCATION
Our education
is
=> close to the industrial world : visits, projects, field
training periods, 50 lecturers from industry
=> in synergy with research : professors who do researeh,
researchers who teach, predoctoral laboratory training periods
ISAA can be
compared with a medium size innovative company : the 6 months
training period of 100 students in industry equals to the work
of 50 full-time engineers or veterinarians in one year
ISAA develops
a project of continuing education based upon the best French and
European knowhow in food processing and human nutrition

ISAA year (bac + 5) graduation year of the " Grandes
Ecoles " (Master's level) |

semester with courses, practical training and exercises, and
an ongoing project in relation with a food industry company

semester in a food industry company with a problem to solve

a long training period in industry, which may start with a

relation with industry) |
